Chesapeake College Center for Allied Health & Athletics

Athletic Director Chesapeake College
Chesapeake College is a community college with a very successful athletic program and a strong and growing health sciences academic program, so this project also includes nursing labs, a simulated surgical suite and dentistry lab.
An interesting challenge in the design was working with a problematic swimming pool, which we filled in to create a multi-purpose gym and practice space. Doing that enabled us to turn the existing gymnasium into a real performance venue for basketball and volleyball. We replaced the old urethane floor with a new resilient maple floor. Telescoping spectator seating, scoreboards and all gymnasium equipment are also new.
The design team worked closely with faculty and staff on the 45,872 SF addition which includes customized varsity team locker rooms, a two-story strength and fitness center and a group exercise studio. This is the sixth collaboration of SportsPLAN Studio and Marshall Craft Associates.
Marshall Craft understands the value of our specialized experience and expertise, and we have great respect for their design skill and the value they place on their client relationships. They trust us on these projects because they know we empower them to better serve their most valuable clients.
