University of Houston - TDECU Stadium

Broaddus Designs and SportsPLAN Studio were selected for the University of Houston Stadium project following our collaboration on Bobcat Stadium at Texas State University in San Marcos. Our work caught the attention of UH Athletics because we conceptualized and programmed a phase-by-phase master plan for the stadium renovation at TSU. The Cougar Athletic Department also wanted a clearly delineated strategy with future expansions already illustrated and estimated for cost.
The University was racing to design and complete the project in less than three years, so our work had to be completed in four months. Page Architects was selected to design the stadium, which has been constructed on the site of old Roberson Stadium. TDECU Stadium has been programmed and designed to capitalize on spectator views of the Houston skyline, and the stadium club serves as entertainment and hospitality space not only on game days, but each day of the week. It is a flexible gathering space and lounge with stadium and exterior views. There is an 8,000 SF food service kitchen, retail space for merchandise, a stadium box office and multiple ticket gates, and the stadium and site are integrated with an adjacent parking structure ramp and a proposed new lightrail system.
