SportsPLAN Studio was selected to analyze and assess the existing conditions and develop a Master Plan for improvements of ESPER, athletic and recreation facilities at ODU. SportsPLAN Studio conducted a student interest survey, a series of interviews with athletic, academic and administration personnel as well as student/public forums to measure program needs and identify the space necessary to accommodate them.
The process involved an assessment of existing facilities, development of a program of space requirements and exploration of alternative sites available on campus. An assessment and improvements study for the waterfront facility on the Elizabeth River was also conducted. The scope of the project and all of its components were explored and a concept for improvements was developed, establishing a vision for the project. Conceptual design for recreation facilities will provide the basis for immediate development of the Center.
