McDaniel College Merritt Fitness Center

Alumnus and Trustee
McDaniel College
McDaniel College called upon Marshall Craft Architects and SportsPLAN Studio in the spring of 2004, to more accurately define program requirements and design concepts for new recreation, athletics and physical education facilities, conceived as an addition to the Gill Center.
The fitness center creates a new entrance to the Gill Center with a dramatic glass curtain wall providing stunning views of the athletic and intramural playing fields and to the Catoctin Mountains beyond.
In a series of campus workshops with the College athletics and facilities staff and student life administrators, SportsPLAN Studio developed a space program, concept alternatives and a list of fitness and strength equipment. We worked closely with Marshall Craft Architects to complete the design and the layout of fitness and strength training equipment on two levels.
